Dr. Ayana McIntosh is a fellowship-trained pain management specialist who takes an integrative approach to care. She emphasizes collaborative, individualized pain management strategies that minimize reliance on medications while addressing biomechanical dysfunction and systemic inflammation. Dr. McIntosh has advanced expertise in management of chronic pain, spinal conditions including instability such as CCI and AAI, Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, POTS, and MCAS. She is available for diagnostic consultation. She uses her Dysautonomia expertise to assist Long COVID patients in their recovery, and she collaborates with our team for integrative and coordinated pain management strategies that reduce reliance on controlled substances when possible. Dr. McIntosh also provides operative recommendations for anesthesia and pain management for her patients to ensure coordinated care.

After graduating from New York Medical College, Dr. McIntosh completed her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. She received the honor and additional expertise of being the chief resident, reserved for residents at the top of their cohort. She subsequently completed a fellowship in medical pain management and interventional spine procedures at the University of Maryland and Kernan Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. McIntosh believes in compassionate and individualized, evidence-based care, meeting the highest standards for her patients. She is a leader in her community and a proud mother of three.
